So how about it, why workout? Is it for the muscle, is it for flexibility, longevity, health reasons, love the burn?
We are most likely all familiar with the reasons that many people like to workout, the predominant market is that you’ll see many bodybuilders and fitness models in advertising and want to be like them. This is probably one of the biggest driving factors I have run into with training. Another reason that maybe some older readers are familiar with is that you just wanted to protect yourself from bullies the famous get big and get the girl adds in old comics. A cross generational reason is most people want to look good for the opposite sex. Still others really do workout for health reasons, which I commend. Others are athletes and still other just want to better themselves in some way.
The following article that was featured on EliteFTS is a unique perspective of why some people workout. It was written by Tony Walters, A Captain in the Marines serving with MARSOC. He talks about his workouts and why he initially started but ends with the ultimate thought that he workouts because he is trying to protect the ones he loves and wants the best chance to do it. A sentiment that strikes into the hearts of many military members I’m sure. Here is a link to his article. Strength: What are you going to do with yours?
Many readers are not military though, I am curious, why do you all workout? Aesthetics, live longer, health benefits? Leave a comment below and let us know!
